Start No Earlier Than

Constraint type that requires a task to start on or after a specific date.

If Task A can only happen after the 4th of July Holiday, then you might apply a Start No Earlier Than constraint of July 5th. This way you know that the earliest this task will start is July 5th.

Constraints and dependencies can be difficult to manage in large project plans. As a general rule of thumb dependencies should be used to drive start dates. In practice, however, this can create extremely complex plans that shift constantly. Understanding when to use a constraint versus a dependency can help save yourself a lot of hassle.
